INTRODUCTION ABOUT EZIMET S OINTMENT

EZIMET S OINTMENT is a combination of Mometasone and Salicylic acid which belongs to the group of medicines called Dermatological agents. EZIMET S OINTMENT is used to manage the symptoms of eczema which is a skin condition characterized by patches of skin that have become inflamed, itchy, cracked and rough with few types leading to blisters.

It is generally caused by triggering factors such as nuts and dairy which might also occur due to environmental triggering factors such as smoke, pollen, soaps and fragrances leading to onset of symptoms of eczema.

Avoid applying EZIMET S OINTMENT, if you have rosacea (a skin condition affecting the face), acne (pimples), skin atrophy (thinning of the skin), dermatitis (skin inflammation) around the mouth, genital itching, viral infections such as shingles, chickenpox (viral infection), ulcerated skin and wounds.

Before applying EZIMET S OINTMENT, inform your doctor if you have any skin problems. EZIMET S OINTMENT should be used in pregnant women only if advised by the doctor. If you are a breast-feeding women, consult your doctor before applying EZIMET S OINTMENT. Safety and effectiveness of EZIMET S OINTMENT is not recommended for use in children.

The most common side effects of using EZIMET S OINTMENT are mild to moderate pruritus (itchy skin), burning and stinging sensation of skin, dryness of skin and mild skin atrophy (thin-shiny appearing skin). Consult your doctor if any of the side effects get worse.

HOW EZIMET S OINTMENT WORKS

EZIMET S OINTMENT is used to manage symptoms of eczema, where Mometasone reduces the redness and itchiness of skin by blocking the production of prostaglandin (chemical messenger), which is responsible for causing redness and itchiness of skin and Salicylic acid helps in softening the moisture in the skin which results in the shedding of outer layer of skin thereby providing relief from the symptoms of eczema.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always apply EZIMET S OINTMENT as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. On the affected area, apply a thin layer of this medicine. It should not be applied under bandages or similar. Avoid applying the medicine around your eyes or mucous membrane. Your doctor will decide the duration and frequency of using this medicine depending upon severity of the condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF EZIMET S OINTMENT

COMMON

  • mild to moderate itchy skin
  • burning and stinging sensation of skin
  • folliculitis (a type of skin infection marked by inflamed hair follicles)
  • skin dryness
  • mild skin atrophy (thin-shiny appearing skin)
  • telangiectasia (a condition of dilated small blood vessels on skin)

UNCOMMON

  • erythema (skin rash)
  • swelling due to accumulation of fluid in hands, arms, feet, ankles and legs
  • fissures (cracks in skin)
  • urticaria (red,itchy skin)
  • pimples, papular (raised and infected skin areas) and pustular formations (reddish, scaly, pus-filled bumps)

RARE

Stop applying EZIMET S OINTMENT and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • if your skin becomes irritated or sensitive
  • if you experience burning sensation
  • blurred vision or other visual disturbance

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Dry Skin:

Try moisturizing your skin with a lotion 2 to 3 times a day or as often needed. Moisturizers help to keep the area moisturized, so they work best on damp skin. After you take a bath, pat your skin dry then apply your moisturizer. Try to avoid using skin care products and soaps that contain alcohol, fragrances, dyes or other chemicals.

Skin itching:

Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch the affected area. Avoid sun exposure or UV rays as it may sensitize your skin. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when going outdoor. Regularly moisturize your skin after consulting the doctor. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
