NTRODUCTION ABOUT OLET 5 TABLET
OLET 5 TABLET is used in the management of schizophrenia and severe manic episodes of bipolar disorders and its recurrence. It contains Olanzapine which belongs to group of medicines known as Antipsychotics. It works by blocking certain brain receptors for dopamine and serotonin, which helps to reduce symptoms like hallucinations and mood swings in conditions like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
Along with this management, your doctor might ask you to make certain lifestyle changes, such as eating a healthy diet, regular exercise and quitting alcohol. Prior to the management, your doctor may want you to take several blood tests to understand the existing condition. Avoid consumption of alcohol during management with OLET 5 TABLET as it can make you feel drowsy. OLET 5 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients previously diagnosed with eye problems like glaucoma or dementia in elderly. Before taking OLET 5 TABLET, inform your doctor if you have a history of blood clotting, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, prostate, intestine, heart, liver or kidney disease, diabetes, and seizures.
OLET 5 TABLET should be used with caution among women who are pregnant. It is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women and in children and adolescents less than 18 years of age. OLET 5 TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients with dementia. The most common side effects are changes in the levels of some blood cells, weight gain, sleepiness and feeling dizzy.

It is used in the management of the psychotic conditions such as:
- Schizophrenia
- Severe manic episodes of bipolar disorder and its recurrence
HOW OLET 5 TABLET WORKS
OLET 5 TABLET contains Olanzapine which belongs to antipsychotics that works by altering the activity of certain chemicals in the brain, particularly dopamine and serotonin. It blocks receptors for these chemicals, which helps to reduce symptoms like hallucinations, delusions, and mood swings in conditions like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. By balancing these neurotransmitters, olanzapine helps stabilize mood, improve thinking, and reduce agitation.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
- For Tablet: Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine
- For Mouth Dissolving or Orally disintegrating tablet: Place the medicine inside your mouth and allow it to dissolve completely. Do not swallow or chew the medicine
- For Dispersible Tablet (DT): Drop the medicine in a glass of water and allow it to dissolve. Consume the mixture once the medicine dissolves completely
- Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition
- Continue to take OLET 5 TABLET for the stipulated duration prescribed by your doctor to achieve better results
SIDE EFFECTS OF OLET 5 TABLET
Common side effects of OLET 5 TABLET:
- weight gain
- sleepiness
- increases in levels of prolactin in the blood
- changes in the levels of some blood cells
- feel dizzy (with a slow heart rate), especially while getting up from a lying or sitting position
- restlessness, tremor, unusual movements
- constipation
- dry mouth
- rashes
- loss of strength, extreme tiredness, feeling more hungry
- swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet
- fever, joint pain
- sexual dysfunction
- seizures, muscle stiffness
- syndrome of restless legs, problems with speech (stuttering)
- memory loss or forgetfulness
- hair loss
- changes in breasts in males and females like an abnormal production of breast milk or abnormal growth
Stop taking OLET 5 TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- unusual movement of face or tongue
- blood clots in the veins especially in the legs (swelling, pain, and redness in the leg), which may travel through blood vessels to the lungs causing chest pain and difficulty in breathing
- fever, faster breathing, sweating, muscle stiffness and drowsiness
