Description
TETGLOB 500IU contains Tetanus Immunoglobulin which belongs to the group of medicines called Immunoglobulins. It is used to prevent tetanus infection following injuries in patients who are at risk of getting infected with tetanus causing germs. It can also be used in patients who did not receive tetanus vaccine over the last 10 years or in patients who don’t remember about their vaccination status. TETGLOB 500IU is also used in the management of active tetanus infection. It is always administered along with tetanus vaccine for improved effects.
Tetanus (also known as lock jaw) is a serious bacterial infection caused by the bacterium called Clostridium tetani. It locks the muscles of the jaw and neck of the infected patients and makes it hard for them to open their mouth or swallow.
Tetanus immunoglobulin contains antibodies that are prepared from the blood samples of the screened donors. These antibodies bind to the tetanus causing germs and prevents them from attacking the nervous system. As a result, it prevents painful muscle spasms and other conditions associated with tetanus.
Do not receive TETGLOB 500IU if you are allergic to tetanus immunoglobulin or other immunoglobulins. Before receiving TETGLOB 500IU inform your doctor if you are severely dehydrated or have diabetes, high blood pressure or blood clots in the body. You must also inform your doctor if you got vaccinated recently or scheduled for any upcoming vaccination.
Consult your doctor before receiving TETGLOB 500IU if you are pregnant and breastfeeding. TETGLOB 500IU can be used in children if prescribed by the physician.
